We have had great discussions with many people considering making St. Clare home. Here, we have compiled answers to commonly asked questions from our visitors. Of course, we welcome you to bring a list of your own questions to an appointment at our immersive display suite.
Do I own my residence?
The most common form of enjoying retirement living occupancy in Australia is a long-term lease. This lifetime lease essentially provides you with similar rights as a freehold title. There’s also the significant benefit of no stamp duty being payable on your new home. The Victorian Retirement Villages Act (1986) ensures your rights are protected.
Who can live at St. Clare?
Residents are aged 55 years and over and may be in full or part-time employment or no longer in paid work. St. Clare’s lifestyle is suited to people who wish to enjoy the benefits of independent living, a caring community and world-class amenities and services.
When will the community be ready?
Construction is progressing well, building is on track for completion late in 2025. We look forward to welcoming our first residents in early 2026.
When can I see a residence?
You can see an example residence right now! We have built a prototype apartment on site, so you can walk through and examine the fixtures and finishes, while you view the floorplans, aspect and views that suit your preferences.
Can I have a guest stay over?
You are of course allowed to have guests stay overnight. However, for security purposes you are asked to let management know if someone is staying in your residence
Are pets allowed?
Yes, subject to prior approval from management and compliance with the pet policy.
Is there ample car and visitor parking? What about EV charging?
Yes, each two-bedroom residence is allocated exclusive use of one car park and three-bedroom and penthouse residences are allocated two car parks. The car parks are in the secure underground car park that connects you with a lift to your level, giving you easy and secure access to your residence. Each residence is provided with one personal storage unit, that is also located in the basement, near the car park. St. Clare is developed with the capability to charge electric vehicles and can be installed into resident’s car parks at a cost.
Who owns St. Clare?
St. Clare is owned and operated by Villa Maria Catholic Homes (VMCH), a leading for-purpose organisation, providing retirement living, at-home aged care, residential aged care, disability services and affordable homes to more than 7,600 people across Victoria. While we’ve been around for over a century, we’re always moving forward. We stay true to who we are by supporting people and families to live their best lives, providing a place to call home and spaces to learn and grow.
